Random Thoughts of the Day

I love hanging out in gay bars. The people are friendly, I never get bothered by overbearing macho men, and I can get all dressed up and be appreciated for being fabulous. Friday night was my friend’s birthday and she was doing a drag show at a gay bar on Dort Hwy so I headed down there, but the music was just atrocious. Awful, hip-hop, r&b, just awful booty bar music not what I would expect from a gay bar as they usually have fun dance music and trance. I had to leave early because the music made me feel icky, as did all the bump and grind on the dance floor. I’d really like to find a fun local bar to hang out in periodically!

I’m thinking of getting myself a pit bull and a gun. Porsche Lynn was the first person to suggest I get a gun. I’ve been shooting before, and I think it’s finally time to have a gun. Legally, of course. I love pit bulls. They’re the sweetest, kindest, most wonderful and misunderstood breed of dogs and there’s one up for adoption that is so cute! They’re so much fun to run and cuddle with and spoil with love, plus I’d feel very protected by a muscular creature by my side.

I’ve been trying to sort through music all day to put on my ipod for my road trip to Traverse City, but it’s so time-consuming. I need a slave to do all tedious tech stuff for me. Mix tapes were so much easier!

I’m listening to Mike Patton’s Mondo Cane right now and I have to tell you, here is a shout out to Mike. If you read this, please marry me. I mean it. You are so clearly the man of my dreams for doing a cover of Ennio Morricone’s “Deep Down” from the soundtrack of Danger: Diabolik! Those of you who are unfamiliar with this musical genius with the most amazingly versatile voice that ever graced my divine ears might know him from such bands as Faith No More, Fantomas, Mr. Bungle, Dillinger Escape Plan etc. Those of you who don’t, should!  This particular CD is all covers of 1960s Italian film soundtracks which I adore. What a voice, what a man. Elegant and edgy all at the same time. Perfect.

Enough random thoughts for today. I need to hit replay and listen to this again. And again..and again…then start packing.

Good luck with your plea to Mr. Patton. :-)

You reminded me how much I like Faith No More and Mr. Bungle. I’m listening to “Golem II: The Bionic Vapour Boy” right now.

    Happy iPoding, dogging, and shooting!

After we had had some brief words on collarme months ago I wanted to take the time to view your fabulous site, and of course check out your recent happenings. I probably live 10 mins from you. As far as gay bars, I love going as well. I know the bar you speak of… and I agree with the not so “comfortable” scene there. There aren’t any great gay bars in Flint. Though the Purple Moon hosts a drag night/pride night Every first Monday of the month, that is the sort of atmosphere that is much more excpected… As for chill, fun local hangouts… I like the atmosphere of The Torch sometimes, which is located downtown Bucham alley. Also Churchills (down the street) has an old, much more spacious feel with local bands and a diverse groups of people, friendly, eclectic in thought and age. There is the loft, it can get cramped has two levels, bands lots of diversity, more of a college crowd. There are a lot of bars in Flint that could be potentially fun, everyone has their comfort level..I hope my comment doesn’t seem too evasive, I just know Flint very well. I’m not sure where you’ve been in Flint so I thought I’d just mention a few places. I hope that’s ok.

I’ve been to all of those places. I’m not crazy about the Loft or Churchill’s but I love The Torch. Churchill’s has terrible sound and I hate the layout of the venue and the cold, impersonal back room where the bands play. The Loft has irritating and annoying people that like to dance on the bar and I don’t like the narrow layout of it at all. basically unless one of my friends is DJing or playing, I avoid those places like the plague. I’m not much a of a barfly as it is.

The Purple Moon has been closed for a while. I used to go to their Monday night drag event. The last time I tried to go the venue had closed down which is why I’m on the hunt for something to replace it.
